How you use your van mattress and how often (and for how many nights) you sleep on it should dictate how you build it. For van mattresses, we offer three materials to choose from. First is traditional polyurethane foam. For a van mattress, if you’re going to spend more than 2–3 nights at a time or more than a few short trips per season on this mattress, we recommend our highest quality, high resiliency (HR), Everflex foam. If you’re spending fewer nights per trip or season on your van mattress, you can get by with less-expensive (and less dense) Econoflex foam. We offer 3 firmness options for each of these foams, and generally recommend medium-density V44 as long as your mattress is between 3–5 inches thick. If it’s thicker you should consider our less firm V34, and if it’s less than 3 inches you’ll probably want our firmer V54 foam. The second option for your van mattress, for the eco-conscious crowd, is much more comfortable, and organic, latex foam. We offer six firmness options, and you should select the firmness that matches your personal sleeping preference in your van, from soft to firm. Finally, we offer memory foam mattress options as well, but always recommend that you put a base layer of polyurethane foam below 1–2 inches of memory foam.
